The master list
Everything, in one place. Do not use this as a packing list. Use it as the thing you cut a packing list out of.
People kept asking for one page they could print, so here it is, grouped by function rather than by trip. It is deliberately over-inclusive. A real trip uses maybe forty percent of it.
Worn or carried
- Heaviest shoes, jacket with zip pockets, sleepable trousers
- Passport or ID, one card in a pocket, one card elsewhere, keys minus the extras
Clothing
- Base layer, mid layer, wind shellSee shoulder season for why these three and not a coat.
- Tops to nights, bottoms x 2, sleep set, one dressier item
- Underwear and socks to nights minus one, plus one spare pair of socks in the day bag
- Swimwear, thin gloves, flat-packing hat, sunglasses
Washbag
- Shampoo bar in a tin, toothbrush, paste, stick deodorant, sunscreen
- Prescriptions in labelled boxes, painkillers, plasters, rehydration sachets
- Nail clippers, comb
Power and devices
- Phone, cable, two-port adapter, charged battery pack
- Headphones plus wired backup, films and podcasts downloaded

If you print this, print it at 90 percent and it lands on one sheet.
My Escape Planner. Lists are written from trips actually taken. Nothing here is sponsored and no gear is sent to me.
